ISU Specialty Chemical and Ares Materials to develop solid-state battery polymers

ISU Specialty Chemical and Ares Materials have partnered to accelerate the development of solid-state battery polymer materials using AI-driven formulation optimization.

3 November 2026

ISU Specialty Chemical, a subsidiary of Korea’s ISU Group, and the Texas-based materials-AI firm Ares Materials have announced a joint project to engineer polymers for solid-state batteries. The collaboration aims to address the slow pace of current battery material development by integrating AI into the formulation process.

Historically, battery developers face significant delays when material specifications change, often forcing them to restart lengthy testing cycles. The partnership intends to bypass this by using an AI framework that analyzes device-level performance to predict how formulation variables drive battery efficiency. This allows the companies to treat new targets as adjustments to existing performance models rather than starting from scratch.

ISU Specialty Chemical provides the industrial production capacity for lithium sulfide, while Ares contributes the software architecture for formulation. Both companies emphasized that this methodology is designed to meet rising global demand for scalable, high-performance battery materials in the electronics and automotive sectors.
