IT Home Confirms: "ICEY: Sequel" to Launch May 1, 2027

IT Home reports that the producer of the Chinese action game "ICEY: Sequel" has confirmed the game's release date on Steam as May 1, 2027. The game's development has been secured through a crowdfunding campaign that has raised approximately 37 million yuan (around $5.2 million USD) to date.

Producer "Old Mark Shaw" stated during a Q&A session on the Bilibili platform that the game's launch date is fixed and was determined from the project's inception. He assured that the game will not be delayed and will launch as scheduled. The raised funds are intended to ensure quality without impacting the release timeline. Developers plan to release free additional content post-launch.

The crowdfunding initiative was primarily driven by Steam's payment settlement cycle. Funds from game sales on Steam typically take 2-3 months to be disbursed. The initial budget was calculated to cover expenses until May 1st, and the additional funding ensures the game's completion without financial interruptions during these settlement periods. The original, nominal crowdfunding goal was set at 10,000 yuan due to platform rules, as a campaign falling short of its target is canceled entirely.

The game company confirmed that "ICEY: Sequel" will be priced at 48 yuan (approximately $7 USD), regardless of the total amount raised through crowdfunding. The game's scope and quality were finalized before the campaign began. Developers plan to release at least two free DLCs after the game's launch, with no paid DLCs currently planned.
