IT Home: Doubao AI Agent Function to be Deactivated July 15
Chinese tech news outlet IT Home reports that Doubao's AI agent functionality will be deactivated on July 15, 2026. Users are advised to back up their data before the deadline.

Chinese technology news outlet IT Home has reported that the AI agent (智能体) functionality within Doubao will be deactivated on July 15, 2026, due to product adjustments.
According to the notice, users will be able to view and manually save their AI agent information and historical conversation data for a period after the feature's discontinuation. After October 15, 2026, Doubao will process relevant data according to its privacy policy, and it will no longer be viewable or recoverable within the app. The company recommends users back up any important content via screenshots or text export.
Concurrently, Doubao points users towards ByteDance's Catbox (猫箱) app, where they can create new AI agents and engage in conversational services, suggesting it as a future platform for AI agent experiences.
Previously, Doubao's AI agents allowed users to define custom AI personas with specific traits, rules, and abilities. Users could set the agent's identity, tone, expertise, and speaking style, with each agent maintaining its own conversational memory without context mixing.
