IT Home: Kirin 9030 Pro GPU Sees 76% Performance Uplift
IT Home analyzed the performance of the Huawei Mate 80 Pro. The Kirin 9030 Pro chip's GPU shows a 76% improvement over its predecessor, with Genshin Impact energy efficiency outperforming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Chinese technology portal IT Home has released a performance analysis for the Huawei Mate 80 Pro smartphone. The report indicates that the Kirin 9030 Pro chip's graphics processing unit (GPU) shows a 76% improvement compared to the previous generation Kirin 9020.
The analysis, conducted by Bilibili user @GeekBay, focused on the Kirin 9030 Pro processor. The chip is estimated to contain approximately 15 billion transistors, placing its scale on par with Apple's A15 and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips.
Significant gains are reported in GPU performance, with the Kirin 9030 Pro demonstrating superior energy efficiency in the game Genshin Impact compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This improvement is attributed partly to optimizations in HarmonyOS native applications and enhanced low-level graphics driver support.
Furthermore, the analysis revealed that the multi-core efficiency of the Kirin 9030 Pro positions it between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 8 Gen 3, even approaching the latter at low and mid-frequency ranges. Gaming tests, such as Honor of Kings at 120fps, showed remarkably low power consumption of only 3W.
