IT Home Launches Space Computing Constellation, G1 Satellite Scheduled for Late 2027
Chinese entity IT Home has launched the 'Space String' computing constellation, designed as China's first space computing infrastructure for global and deep space applications. The G1 validation satellite is slated for launch in the fourth quarter of 2027.

IT Home has announced the launch of the 'Space String' computing constellation, aiming to establish China's first space-based computing infrastructure for both global and deep space utilization. The project is jointly developed by Geewei 2 and Dongfang Xinglian, with Dongfang Xinglian handling overall design and operations, and Geewei 2 providing AI capabilities and expanding international market access.
The constellation will center on computing services, integrating satellite and orbital resources. Its objectives include exploring space-based data processing, model deployment, and coordinated use of computing power, progressively building callable space computing services. This initiative builds upon prior advancements in on-orbit AI technology, satellite projects, and international collaborations.
'Space String' will feature a cooperative architecture between a 'service layer' and a 'computing layer.' The service layer plans to deploy over 720 data satellites (or inference satellites) for data acquisition and business tasks. The computing layer will involve deploying over 360 computing power satellites (or training satellites) in dawn-dusk orbits, with potential for further expansion.
Inter-satellite laser links are planned to connect these layers, enabling service satellites to access computing resources when needed. This will allow collaboration with other nodes and ground systems, transforming distributed in-orbit computing resources into usable services.
The plan outlines a phased approach with the G1 validation satellite, G2 standard satellite, and G3 flagship satellite. The G1 validation satellite is scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter of 2027.
