Chinese technology publication IT Home has announced the introduction of a new 81 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery version for the Luxeed RX coupé SUV. Pre-orders for this new variant have commenced in China, with a starting price of 269,800 yuan (approximately $37,000 USD). This addition expands the battery capacity options for the vehicle.
All versions of the Luxeed RX are equipped with Huawei's "Whale" battery technology and an 800-volt (V) high-voltage platform. According to IT Home, the new 81 kWh version retains the core hardware responsible for driving dynamics, including Huawei's Turing platform and advanced suspension systems. The vehicle's torsional rigidity and weight distribution are reported to remain optimized, ensuring consistent driving performance.
The CLTC-rated range for the vehicle varies between 672 kilometers and 702 kilometers, depending on the specific configuration. Fast charging capabilities allow the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes, enhancing usability for longer journeys. The Luxeed RX is positioned as a coupé SUV and is built on Huawei's Turing architecture.
The vehicle incorporates advanced sensor suites for driver assistance, featuring 38 integrated sensors and a high-resolution LiDAR unit. Huawei executive Yu Chengdong has described the Luxeed RX as the "best-driving car" within the HarmonyOS automotive ecosystem. A formal launch event with further details is scheduled for September 28.
