Reports indicate that Dongfeng Mengshi is developing a new vehicle model, with deliveries slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024. This new model is reportedly set to compete with the BYD Fangchengbao Titanium 7, targeting a price range of 200,000 to 250,000 yuan (approximately $27,500 to $34,500 USD).

The upcoming vehicle is said to feature a unibody construction rather than a traditional ladder frame and will focus on a "broad off-road" or "light off-road" concept. This approach aims to appeal to younger consumers seeking exploration capabilities beyond urban environments. The car is expected to be around 4.9 meters long, with its electric motor power slightly lower than current models.

Mengshi's CEO, Wan Liangyu, has previously outlined plans for the company's product lines, which will include the flagship 917 series, the M series (including the recently launched M817), and a new X series. The upcoming model is expected to be part of this new X series.

The positioning of this new model within the 200,000-250,000 yuan price bracket places it considerably below the company's existing Mengshi 917 (starting around 637,700 yuan) and M817 (starting around 299,900 yuan). This suggests a strategy to broaden Mengshi's market appeal and reach a different customer segment.
