IT Home: Personal Assistant Product Under Development
According to IT Home, the "Doubao" brand is developing a personal assistant product. Internal testing began in April under the codename "Spell".
IT Home has learned that the "Doubao" brand is actively proceeding with product plans for a personal assistant.
An insider revealed that this personal assistant exploration product, initially codenamed "Spell," began internal testing in April. The project was led by the Doubao mobile assistant team but its public release was delayed due to factors including the launch of the Doubao mobile phone.
Following the attention received by personal assistant products like Muse and Instinct overseas, Doubao is accelerating the external release of its personal agent capabilities. The company plans to integrate the "Spell" project more deeply with Doubao products. The new product will be jointly managed by the "Spell" project and the Doubao conversation team and is expected to be released relatively soon.
The technical preview of the Doubao mobile assistant was first unveiled in December 2025, featured on a Nubia M153 engineering sample developed in partnership with ZTE. The consumer version was officially released in September 2026 on the Nubia NaviX Ultra, emphasizing daily usability and stability over the preview version. The "Spell" project can be seen as an extension of Doubao's mobile-based personal agent capabilities into an independent application form.
