Ixigo Partners With Uber for In-App Train Ticket Booking

Online travel aggregator ixigo has entered a partnership with Uber, enabling users to book train tickets directly through the Uber application. Launched on August 18, the service allows users to book tickets, check PNR status, and arrange for a cab to and from railway stations without switching between applications.

Users can access the train booking feature via the 'Bus & Train' section on Uber's home screen or services menu. The booking process involves entering travel details, selecting a train, and completing the transaction within the app, with ticket information and PNR status also made available.

Ixigo's train ticketing business has been its largest revenue driver recently. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, revenue for this segment grew by 9% year-on-year to INR 141 crore, with profits increasing by 29% to INR 52.7 crore.

For Uber, this collaboration provides access to India's extensive rail travel market. Indian Railways transported 7.41 billion passengers in fiscal year 2026, highlighting rail's importance for long-distance travel. The partnership also presents Uber with an opportunity to integrate first- and last-mile services connecting to railway stations.
