ixigo Reports Rs 63 Crore Profit in Q2 Driven by Freshbus Stake Sale
Online travel aggregator ixigo swung to a consolidated net profit of Rs 63.4 crore in Q2 FY27, a significant turnaround from a loss of Rs 3.5 crore a year prior. The profit was largely attributed to gains from the partial sale of its stake in bus operator Freshbus.

Indian online travel company ixigo reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 63.4 crore for the second quarter ended September 2026, marking a substantial recovery from a loss of Rs 3.5 crore in the same period last year. The turnaround was primarily driven by a one-time gain from the partial divestment of its stake in intercity bus operator Freshbus.
The stake sale in Freshbus generated a gain of Rs 40.7 crore, which ixigo classified as an exceptional item in its financial reporting. The company's revenue from operations increased by 13% year-on-year to Rs 321 crore, though it saw a 10% sequential decline from the previous quarter.
Ixigo stated that its decision to exit Freshbus stemmed from differing business models, with ixigo focusing on technology and distribution, while Freshbus operates as a fleet management business. The company had initially invested in Freshbus in 2022 when the intercity electric bus concept was relatively untested in India.
Furthermore, ixigo has begun reporting its hotels business as a distinct operating segment. Gross booking value (GTV) for hotels grew 39% quarter-on-quarter and more than doubled year-on-year to Rs 111 crore. Hotel revenue saw a more than sixfold increase to Rs 8.1 crore, with the company noting its high take rate in this segment.
Artificial intelligence plays a significant role in ixigo's operations. Its AI assistant, TARA, resolves 94% of chat queries without human intervention. The company is also developing a new voice-first AI assistant, ixigo NEXT, and utilizes AI for fare tracking and automated delivery of travel documents.
