Jacopo Reale's Short Film Wins Reply AI Film Festival
Jacopo Reale's "Love at First Sight" has won the Reply AI Film Festival, an international competition merging cinema and AI. The event awarded three main prizes.
Venice, Italy – "Love at First Sight" by Jacopo Reale has won the main prize at the second annual Reply AI Film Festival, an international competition focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and cinema. The festival, organized by Reply, received over 2,500 submissions from 67 countries.
The winning films were selected by an international jury presided over by director Gabriele Muccino. Muccino commented on AI's transformative power, stating that it is already a "tsunami that will change the world completely." Following "Love at First Sight," Mark Wachholz's "The Cinema That Never Was" received second prize, and Andrea Lommatzsch's "Un Reve Liquide" took third.
In addition to the main awards, special recognitions were given. The Lexus Visionary Award, for outstanding technological integration, was awarded to Marcello Junior Costa's "Instinct." The AI for Good Award, in collaboration with the ITU, was presented to Shanshan Jiang's "Clown" for its engagement with UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Filippo Rizzante, CTO of Reply, highlighted that AI can amplify creativity and offer new avenues for filmmakers. The festival serves as a platform for dialogue between cinema and AI, fostering innovation and accessibility within the creative industry.
