Jaguar Unveils Type 01 Electric Sedan, First Model Under Rebirth Plan
Jaguar has launched the Type 01, its first new model since restructuring and shifting to an all-electric strategy. The sedan aims for a premium market segment.

Jaguar has officially revealed the Type 01, a new all-electric sedan marking the British automaker's strategic pivot. This launch is the first product from Jaguar's comprehensive rebirth plan, which centers on an all-electric vehicle platform known as JEA.
The company had previously entered the electric vehicle market with the 2017 I-Pace SUV. However, a planned all-electric sedan successor was canceled, and production of older models like the F-Pace has ceased. This left Jaguar without new models as it worked to establish its new electric-only future.
The JEA platform is designed to support Jaguar's upcoming electric product line, targeting a more premium ownership experience. Company executives indicated a starting price point approximately double that of the brand's previous entry-level models. The initial design concepts for the new electric era had previously drawn public attention and mixed reactions.
The Type 01 sedan is now available, signaling the start of Jaguar's new chapter as it aims to compete in the evolving automotive landscape, focusing exclusively on battery-electric vehicles.
