VTT has appointed Jani Kivioja to lead its Quantum Technologies research area, effective November 1, 2026. The move is intended to accelerate the commercialization of quantum technology research in Finland.
Kivioja, who holds a doctorate in technology, brings experience from both quantum technology research and corporate research and technology leadership. He previously worked at VTT as a researcher in micro- and nanoelectronics.
"Finland already possesses strong scientific expertise in quantum technologies. What is still needed is determined R&D, piloting, and innovation to accelerate commercialisation," stated Kivioja.
With this appointment, VTT aims to enhance its position in the development of quantum technologies and foster their application in industrial settings.
