Jasico Express Services Acquires Scania Battery Electric Truck
Jasico Express Services has signed an agreement to acquire a Scania battery electric truck, marking the first such deployment in Singapore's logistics sector.
Singapore, February 8, 2023 – Jasico Express Services, a local transportation and freight-forwarding company, has entered into a sales agreement for a Scania battery electric truck. This acquisition makes Jasico the first company to deploy a Scania battery electric truck within Singapore's logistics sector.
The move aligns with Singapore's national goal for all vehicles to run on cleaner energy by 2040. Scania has been collaborating with fleet owners to drive the adoption of sustainable transport solutions, contributing to the reduction of Scope 3 emissions. Interest in Scania's battery electric trucks has grown since their market introduction in 2022.
The newly acquired truck features a range of up to 180 km on a single charge, powered by nine lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 300 kW. It supports DC charging up to 130 kW via a CCS Type 2 connection. The vehicle is equipped with an L-series cab, a box body, and a tailgate for logistics cargo.
Scheduled for delivery in mid-2023, the electric truck will join Jasico's existing fleet of over 40 vans and trucks, which already includes several electric vans. This electrification is part of Jasico's strategy to enhance services for global logistics customers and gain a competitive edge. The purchase includes a comprehensive solution encompassing charging infrastructure and maintenance services.
