Outdoor advertising company JCDecaux is presenting five of its iconic urban furniture pieces as part of the "Designer(s) du Design" exhibition during Lille Métropole 2020 Design Capital. The exhibition, held at Tripostal de Lille from September 9 to November 15, 2020, features a curated selection of design projects.
The selected items include a bus shelter by Patrick Jouin, a 1970s signage mast, examples of the company's bike-sharing systems, and a kiosk designed by matali crasset. These pieces demonstrate JCDecaux's approach to integrating functionality, aesthetics, and citizen services within urban environments.
With over 55 years of experience in urban furniture, JCDecaux emphasizes design as a key driver of innovation. The company aims to create furniture that enhances daily life in cities and contributes to the urban landscape, building on a long tradition of collaboration with designers and architects.
Sylvain Grandpierre, JCDecaux's Director of Graphic, Digital, and Product Design, stated that design for the company goes beyond aesthetics, representing a responsible approach that considers user needs, urban integration, territorial identity, and environmental challenges. CEO Jean-Charles Decaux noted that the company's presence at the exhibition acknowledges its sustained commitment to urban development and design partnerships over more than 55 years.
