Outdoor advertising company JCDecaux has announced its climate strategy aiming for Net Zero Carbon by 2050, with targets to reduce emissions across its entire value chain.

11 October 2026

JCDecaux SE, a global leader in outdoor advertising, has unveiled its comprehensive climate strategy with the objective of achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050. The strategy adheres to three core principles: Measure, Reduce, and Contribute, and aims to significantly lower the company's carbon footprint across its entire value chain.

The company stated that this initiative underscores its commitment to actively combating climate change through eco-responsible practices and fostering sustainable innovation. Key targets include reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 60% by 2030 and 90% by 2050, compared to 2019 levels. For Scope 3 emissions, the company aims for a reduction of at least 46% by 2030 and 90% by 2050.

JCDecaux has already implemented measures to decrease its environmental impact. In 2022, the company's total carbon footprint was recorded at 210.4 kilotons of CO2 equivalent, representing a 27.1% reduction from 2019. These efforts include enhancing the energy efficiency of its street furniture through LED lighting and dimming solutions, ensuring 100% renewable energy coverage, and transitioning to low-emission vehicles.

The strategy also emphasizes a commitment to the circular economy, notably through the refurbishment of street furniture; refitting a bus shelter can reduce emissions by 69% compared to manufacturing a new one. Optimizing employee travel and promoting alternative transportation methods are also integral components of JCDecaux's climate plan.
