JCDecaux, a global outdoor advertising company, has solidified its leading position in Spain's airport advertising sector. The company announced the renewal of advertising contracts for 18 airports across the Iberian Peninsula, including major hubs like Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga, Valencia, and Seville. Additionally, JCDecaux Airport Spain has been awarded a new six-year contract for the four airports serving the Balearic Islands, including Palma de Mallorca.

Collectively, these 22 airports handle approximately 79 million passengers annually, representing 52% of the total Spanish airport advertising market. This expansion comes at a time when Spanish air traffic has shown significant dynamism, with growth exceeding 14% through October 2004 for its top airports.

Key airports included in the agreements are Barcelona, Spain's second-largest airport and eighth in Europe with 23 million annual passengers, and Palma de Mallorca, the third-largest Spanish airport, serving 19 million passengers per year and acting as the main international gateway for the Balearic Islands. The expanded network covers two of Spain's most significant tourist regions: Andalusia and the Levante.

Jean-Charles Decaux, Chairman and Co-CEO, stated that the new contracts reflect the confidence Spanish airport authority AENA has in JCDecaux's expertise. He highlighted the company's commercial capabilities and its commitment to improving passenger concourses through new designs and products, further strengthening JCDecaux's presence in Southern European airports.
