JCDecaux SE, a global leader in outdoor advertising, announced that its carbon reduction trajectory has been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This validation confirms the company's commitment to climate action and aligns its targets with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

The company's climate strategy, unveiled in June 2023, aims for Net Zero Carbon across its entire value chain by 2050. Near-term goals include a 72.8% reduction in absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030, compared to a 2019 baseline. JCDecaux also commits to sourcing 100% renewable electricity and reducing scope 3 emissions by 46.2% within the same timeframe.

Long-term targets set a 90% reduction in absolute scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 2050. The company acknowledges that scope 3 emissions, which represent over 90% of its carbon footprint, require collaboration with stakeholders, particularly suppliers, to achieve these ambitious goals.

JCDecaux has integrated sustainability into its business model since its inception. The company has established dedicated sustainability departments and updated its strategies over the years. The SBTi approval signifies a significant step in JCDecaux's ongoing efforts to contribute to the fight against climate change through eco-responsible practices and sustainable innovation.
