JD Logistics Pilots Rural Delivery Model in Yunnan

JD Logistics has initiated a pilot program in Yuxi, Yunnan province, China, aiming to enhance delivery services for rural communities. The initiative, dubbed "passenger, cargo, postal, and rural co-delivery," is being developed in collaboration with local postal, transportation, and other authorities.

The new model allows villagers to schedule courier pickups directly from their homes, streamlining the process of sending local specialty products. JD Logistics integrates urban and rural passenger transport resources with its own direct courier services. This approach is designed to provide consistent and regular delivery services, even in remote mountain villages.

Shipments collected under this program are packaged and processed on-site with standardized pricing. Parcels are dispatched on the same day of pickup and can be tracked throughout their journey. Previously, deliveries in the Yuxi county villages occurred every three days; this has now been upgraded to daily service.

JD Logistics has been expanding its rural service network, establishing over 1,000 rural service stations in Yunnan in the past six months. The company plans to further develop this network to make it easier for rural specialty products to reach wider markets.
