JD.com Launches AI Helmet for Delivery Drivers
JD.com has introduced a new AI-powered helmet featuring a voice assistant and optimized routing capabilities for its delivery personnel. The technology aims to enhance delivery efficiency and customer experience.

Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com has unveiled a new AI-powered helmet designed for drivers operating its delivery service, JD Delivery. The helmet incorporates an AI voice assistant and is reported to optimize delivery routes, potentially increasing efficiency and reducing delivery times.
The initial rollout will see the helmets distributed free of charge to JD.com's full-time riders, with plans to extend availability to all drivers subsequently. This technological upgrade is intended to assist drivers in challenging conditions, such as adverse weather or complex residential areas where navigation can be difficult.
The AI assistant is capable of processing order notes and reminding riders of crucial details before delivery. Additionally, the helmet features a "single king route" function, leveraging accumulated data from experienced drivers to optimize paths, which can help prevent delays due to navigation issues.
JD.com has also integrated features within the helmet to aid in verifying restaurant environment conditions. The system can automatically flag problematic areas, addressing growing consumer concerns regarding the quality and hygiene of delivered food.
The introduction of the helmet is part of JD.com's broader strategy to utilize technology for enhancing its logistics network and optimizing the experience for both drivers and end customers.
