JD.com, a major Chinese e-commerce platform, has withdrawn a special "early bird" package for Apple's forthcoming iPhone Duo foldable smartphone following customer dissatisfaction. The package, initially priced at 7999 yuan, offered a bundle of services and accessories.

The package was made available to JD.com's PLUS members ahead of the iPhone Duo's official pre-order, which is set to start at 15999 yuan. The 7999 yuan bundle included benefits such as a 999 yuan repurchase subsidy, 90-day free exchange, one-year free repair, and five-year free battery replacement. It also came with accessories like an original phone case, charger, and screen protector.

However, customers purchasing the package raised concerns that it did not reduce the overall price of the iPhone Duo. Furthermore, the terms stated that the package was non-refundable and non-exchangeable. The package was also restricted to 256GB and 512GB models and required the phone to be activated upon receipt.

Complaints emerged on JD.com's product review pages and on the consumer complaint platform Hei Mao (Black Cat). Consumers reported difficulties in obtaining refunds for the early bird package, questioning its value proposition when it didn't offer a direct discount on the phone itself and was non-refundable.

As of now, the "early bird" package is no longer listed on JD.com's platform, indicating its removal from sale. The company has not yet issued an official statement regarding the package's withdrawal or the customer complaints.
