Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com announced plans to create over 100,000 jobs for robot maintenance engineers in the next five years. This announcement coincides with the one-year anniversary of JD.com's launch of after-sales services for robots. The company has already established partnerships with nearly 100 robotics companies for maintenance services, covering a significant portion of the industry's leading firms.

JD.com began offering comprehensive after-sales services for robots last October. Services include installation and setup, usage guidance, delivery and deployment, exhibition/event support, basic repairs, diagnostics, charging and battery replacement, testing, refurbishment, maintenance, and equipment recycling. The company also intends to build a global robotics after-sales network spanning over 100 countries.

The company is developing its own SaaS system for managing robot maintenance services. This system will provide manufacturers, rental operators, and end-customers with digital management solutions, including predictive fault alerts, intelligent dispatching of service orders, and on-site or depot maintenance.

JD.com plans to establish ten training and certification centers across China. These centers will focus on training and certifying future robot maintenance engineers. Additionally, the company aims to facilitate career transitions for its existing frontline logistics employees by offering them systematic training and practical experience to become robot maintenance engineers, building a skilled professional team.
