Jefferson-Blount-St. Clair Mental Health Authority proposes settlement in data incident class action
Jefferson-Blount-St. Clair Mental Health Authority has proposed a settlement in a class action lawsuit related to a data security incident that occurred around November 2025. The settlement may offer benefits to individuals whose private information was potentially impacted.
Jefferson-Blount-St. Clair Mental Health Authority (JBSCMHA) has announced a proposed settlement in a class action lawsuit stemming from a data security incident. The case, titled Meyer, et al. v. Jefferson-Blount-St. Clair Mental Health Authority, was filed in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Alabama. While the authority denies any wrongdoing, parties have agreed to a settlement to avoid further litigation.
The incident, which allegedly took place on or about November 25, 2025, may have impacted private information of individuals residing in the United States and its territories. Settlement Class Members include any individual whose Private Information was determined to have been potentially impacted by the Data Security Incident, particularly those who received a notice letter.
The settlement offers monetary relief. Settlement Class Members can file a claim for cash payments and/or free credit monitoring services. The deadline to submit a claim form is December 23, 2026, with all necessary forms and details available at www.JBSSettlement.com.
The court's final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for February 16, 2027. This hearing will also address attorney fees and costs. Any objections or requests for exclusion from the settlement must be submitted by November 23, 2026.
