Jenkki Chewing Gum Marks Over 70 Years as Finland's Favorite

Jenkki chewing gum, produced by Cloetta, has maintained its position as Finland's most popular confection for over seven decades. Established in 1951 in Turku by the Hellas company, Jenkki has achieved iconic status and is synonymous with chewing gum for many Finns.

The brand has evolved with the times while remaining true to its origins. Jenkki is not only a significant part of Finnish consumer culture but also holds scientific importance. In 1975, Jenkki introduced the world's first xylitol-sweetened chewing gum. This innovation is supported by a health claim approved by the European Union in 2009, stating that 100% xylitol chewing gum can reduce dental plaque and lower the risk of caries in children.

Jenkki has been present in Finnish media since its early days. It was one of the three commercials broadcast during the first television transmission by Mainos-TV in 1957. Popular culture has also influenced Jenkki, as seen with the "signed" Beatles photo series launched during the Beatlemania of the 1960s.

All Jenkki products continue to carry the recommendation of the Finnish Dental Association, the first of its kind globally in the late 1980s. This commitment to health, coupled with its long-standing history, makes Jenkki a unique brand in the Finnish market.
