Jennestad Trading Post opens for summer season in Sortland

Museum Nord is opening the historic Jennestad Trading Post in Sortland for the summer season, offering visitors a glimpse into a bygone era. The trading post, which operated from the 1800s until 1982, now displays authentic goods from its active trading days.
The venue features a variety of historical items. Visitors can experience the atmosphere of the past while exploring the genuine products on display from floor to ceiling. A museum shop is also located within the building, offering handicrafts, postcards, local history literature, and other regionally connected products.
Jennestad Trading Post is situated approximately eight kilometers northwest of Sortland. Galleri Jennestad is located nearby, and the area provides views of the Sortland strait. The trading post is open to the public during the summer, but in summer 2026, it will operate exclusively for pre-booked groups of a minimum of 10 people.
Local history and artifacts on display Admission for adults is NOK 120, while children and young people under 16 enter for free. Visitors can engage with the area's history and purchase local goods from the museum shop.
