JERA to Build Japan's Largest AI Data Center in Chiba with Dell
Japan's largest power company, JERA, has partnered with Dell and RHAELM to develop Japan's largest AI data center in Chiba. The facility is expected to be operational by 2028.

Japan's largest electric power company, JERA, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Dell and sovereign AI infrastructure developer RHAELM to collaborate on building Japan's largest AI data center.
The first data center under this agreement will be located in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo. It is designed to have a capacity of 400MW, making it the largest single data center site in Japan. The total investment for the project is estimated to exceed $15 billion.
The AI data center will be situated near JERA's own thermal power plant, utilizing direct power supply. This proximity is expected to significantly reduce the construction and approval time for the supporting power infrastructure. The site is slated for operation by 2028.
JERA and RHAELM also plan to extend this model to other JERA locations, aiming for a multi-gigawatt AI infrastructure capacity by the 2030s.
