JFF Awarded $40 Million by U.S. Department of Labor to Expand Apprenticeships
Jobs for the Future (JFF) has received a $40 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to expand registered apprenticeship programs nationwide.

Boston, MA – Jobs for the Future (JFF), a national nonprofit focused on workforce development, has been awarded $40 million from the U.S. Department of Labor's Pay-for-Performance (PfP) Incentive Payments Program. The funding will support a four-year initiative to expand registered apprenticeship programs in high-demand sectors, including artificial intelligence, semiconductor manufacturing, and nuclear energy.
The grant aims to build and sustain the skilled workforce necessary for these critical infrastructure industries. JFF President and CEO Maria Flynn stated that registered apprenticeship is an effective method for meeting the talent needs of rapidly growing technology fields.
The PfP program utilizes performance-based incentives to encourage employers and program sponsors to launch and scale high-quality apprenticeship programs. Rewards are tied to tangible outcomes such as hiring new apprentices, retaining them, and facilitating their career progression within the programs.
JFF will lead this national effort in collaboration with a consortium of eight industry and apprenticeship partners. The program will be made available to registered apprenticeship sponsors across the country, offering direct support to employers looking to establish or expand their apprenticeship initiatives.
