Jiahui International Cancer Center treats first international patient with new CAR-T therapy for solid tumors
Jiahui International Cancer Center (JICC) has begun treating its first international patient with Satri-cel, the world's first approved CAR-T cell therapy for solid tumors.

SHANGHAI – The Jiahui International Cancer Center (JICC) has started treatment for its first international patient using Satri-cel, a CAR-T cell therapy approved for solid tumors. This marks a significant advancement in the application of this cancer treatment technology.
Developed by Luye Pharma, Satri-cel is designed to harness a patient's own immune T-cells, genetically modifying them to target and destroy cancer cells. While CAR-T therapies have been successful against certain blood cancers, their effectiveness against solid tumors has historically been a challenge.
JICC stated that treating an international patient demonstrates the center's capability to offer advanced oncological treatments globally. Satri-cel received approval from China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) earlier this year for specific types of esophageal cancer.
The initiation of this treatment at JICC signifies a step forward in expanding CAR-T cell therapy beyond hematological malignancies and into the more complex realm of solid tumor treatment. Luye Pharma continues research to explore the therapy's efficacy in other solid tumor indications.
