Jinhuan Dryer highlights R290 refrigerant in heat pump dryers

Jinhuan Dryer, a manufacturer of drying appliances, has provided details on its use of R290, a type of propane, as the refrigerant in its heat pump dryers. The company highlights that while the refrigerant operates within a sealed system and is not directly interacted with by users, it plays a crucial role in the appliance's efficiency and engineering.

The company explains that the choice of R290 is influenced by its environmental profile, but its implementation requires careful product design. Heat pump dryers operate using two distinct loops: an air loop and a refrigerant loop. In the air loop, warm air enters the drum to collect moisture from the laundry. This humid air then passes through a cold heat exchanger where water condenses and is removed. The dried air is reheated and returned to the drum.

The refrigerant loop is responsible for the heat transfer process. The refrigerant absorbs heat on the cold side of the system, a compressor increases its pressure and temperature, and on the hot side, it releases heat into the drying air. This closed-loop system allows for significant energy savings compared to traditional vented dryers, which must expel warm, moist air outdoors.

Jinhuan Dryer emphasizes that utilizing R290 necessitates optimizing components for both the air and refrigerant circuits. Properly designed R290 heat pump dryers offer an energy-efficient and flexible laundry solution without the need for external venting.
