Jinwei Heat Supplies Silicone Rubber Heaters for Chemical Plant Pipe Protection

Shengzhou Jinwei Electric Heating Appliance Co., Ltd. has begun supplying its silicone rubber heaters with integrated temperature controllers to chemical processing plants. These units are designed for industrial pipe preheating and freeze protection in subzero environments.

The heaters provide uniform heat distribution across watt densities ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 W/cm². The flexible silicone substrate conforms to pipe curvature, eliminating air gaps that can cause hot spots and burn-through, a common issue with rigid band heaters.

Integrated PID controllers maintain pipe surface temperature within a tight 1-2°C tolerance of the setpoint. This precision is critical for chemical processes where temperature deviations of 5°C can alter fluid viscosity and affect flow rates and pump loading.

These heaters aim to prevent costly failures. Pipe freezing can cause a 9% volume increase due to ice expansion, generating hydraulic pressure that can exceed a pipe's burst rating. A single freeze failure can cost a mid-sized chemical plant between $50,000 and $150,000 in lost production, repairs, and remediation.

For operations in potentially hazardous areas, such as chemical plants, heaters with ATEX/IECEx Zone 1 or Zone 2 certification are mandatory. Uncertified heaters pose an ignition risk and violate safety regulations. Jinwei Heat's equipment is designed to meet these stringent requirements.
