Jio Financial Services, Allianz Invest ₹640 Crore in General Insurance Venture
Jio Financial Services (JFS) and German insurer Allianz have jointly injected ₹640.1 crore ($66.5 million) into their general insurance joint venture, Jio Allianz General Insurance, as they move to operationalize the business.

Jio Financial Services (JFS) and German insurer Allianz have jointly invested ₹640.1 crore ($66.5 million) into their general insurance joint venture, Jio Allianz General Insurance. This capital infusion is aimed at operationalizing the business in India.
According to JFS's regulatory filings, both entities injected ₹320.05 crore each into the JV via a rights issue, subscribing to 3.2 million shares apiece. Following this investment, Jio Financial and Allianz maintain equal ownership of the venture at 50% each.
The funds raised will be used by Jio Allianz General Insurance to finance its business operations. JFS has now cumulatively invested ₹375 crore in the general insurance venture. The JV, launched on May 12, 2026, is set to offer general insurance products, including health insurance, to both individuals and businesses.
This latest capital injection occurs as Jio Financial continues to expand its fintech ecosystem, with insurance identified as a key area in its broader strategy beyond core consumer-facing financial products. JFS's other ventures include lending, payments, asset management, and a reinsurance JV with Allianz.
