JioHotstar Expands Services to UK, Canada, and Singapore
Indian streaming service JioHotstar has launched in the UK, Canada, and Singapore, targeting the South Asian diaspora and broader audiences in these new markets.
JioHotstar, a prominent Indian streaming service, has officially expanded its operations beyond India by launching its services in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Singapore. The move aims to capture not only the South Asian diaspora but also wider audiences in these three countries.
The platform will offer over 160,000 hours of content in more than 12 languages, encompassing web series, films, and regional programming. JioHotstar plans to add over 30,000 hours of new content annually to its library for these geographies.
JioHotstar has introduced region-specific pricing models across two tiers: quarterly and annual. Subscription costs in the UK range from £19.99 to £69.99, in Canada from CAD 19.99 to CAD 49.99, and in Singapore from SGD 29.98 to SGD 69.98.
Amit Malhotra, head of international business at JioStar, stated that the company sees an opportunity to serve a broader, currently underserved global audience with a deep connection to Indian entertainment across languages and generations.
This international foray is expected to serve as a testbed for JioStar's products while the Indian OTT market experiences intense competition and rapid growth, with significant potential projected for the coming decade.
