JLT Mobile Computers forms software subsidiary to expand service offerings

JLT Mobile Computers, a supplier of rugged IT solutions for demanding environments, has launched a new, wholly-owned subsidiary focused on software development, named JLT Software Solutions. The establishment of the company also includes the appointment of Andreas Nivard as General Manager for the new venture.

The company plans to grow the software business over the next few years by recruiting a dedicated development team with strong software expertise. This strategic step is part of JLT's long-term growth strategy aimed at providing comprehensive IT solutions, complementary products, and services to industries operating in challenging environments.

The investment is intended to create unique customer value and competitive advantages through new software solutions and scalable services built around JLT's rugged computers. The company plans to leverage existing sensor technology and features in its latest vehicle-mount computers, such as the JLT6012 and the upcoming Android 10-based JLT6012A, to offer new solutions for mobile device fleet management and the Internet of Things (IoT).

"JLT's ambition is to grow profitably and faster than the rest of the market. One of the pillars of our growth strategy is the creation of comprehensive solutions with increased service content," said Per Holmberg, CEO of JLT Mobile Computers. "A key to creating a scalable service offering is the development of flexible software solutions."

Andreas Nivard, who will take office on March 1, brings nearly 25 years of experience from the software industry, most recently from TietoEVRY where he was responsible for operational results in the Swedish Småland region. Previously, he spent many years at Visma. JLT has also begun the recruitment of a software architect to lay the foundation for the new business venture.
