Johannes Winkel Elected Deputy Chairman of CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group

The CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag has elected Johannes Winkel as one of its deputy chairmen. Winkel will oversee policy areas including labor and social affairs, employee representation, sports, and volunteer work.

In related appointments, Christina Stumpp was elected chairwoman of the working group on agriculture, food, and homeland, and Josef Oster was chosen as the new chairman of the working group on municipal politics.

Winkel, a 34-year-old lawyer, has been a member of the Bundestag since 2025. He previously served as deputy chairman of the working group on labor and social affairs within the parliamentary group. As federal chairman of the Young Union Germany and a member of the Young Group in the Bundestag, he has advocated for youth engagement in politics. Winkel succeeds Carsten Linnemann, who was appointed Federal Minister of Health in July.

Stumpp, 38, is a tax and administrative expert and has served in the Bundestag since 2021. Oster, 55, has been a member of the Bundestag since 2017 and currently chairs the Interior Committee.
