Johanniter and Bundeswehr Agree on Close Cooperation
Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe and the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) have signed an agreement establishing a formal cooperation. The pact aims to enhance joint training and disaster response capabilities.

Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe (JUH), a major German aid organization, and the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) have formalized their partnership with a cooperation agreement signed on August 7. This pact establishes a foundation for regular and firm collaboration between the two entities.
The agreement primarily focuses on joint training initiatives and improving preparedness for major disasters and emergencies. Both organizations share the view that civil protection and national defense are integral, society-wide responsibilities.
Johanniter will contribute its expertise in first aid, self-protection, and the qualification of professionals and leaders in rescue services and care. The Bundeswehr, in turn, will share its experiences and resources, particularly concerning national and alliance defense.
"It is essential to be tactically and operationally well-prepared to provide rapid and effective assistance in crisis situations," stated Thomas Mähnert, a member of Johanniter's federal board. Lieutenant General André Bodemann, Commander of the Bundeswehr's Territorial Command, highlighted that both parties stand to benefit from the cooperation.
