Johanniter Builds New Rescue Station in Sendling, Munich
Johanniter Unfall Hilfe has begun construction of a new, modern rescue station in Munich's Sendling district. The new facility will replace outdated premises and enhance emergency response capabilities in the area.
Munich – Johanniter Unfall Hilfe commenced the construction of a new rescue station in Munich's Sendling district on September 17, 2026, located on the former site of the Isarthalbahnhof. This new facility is set to replace decades-old premises that no longer meet contemporary operational demands.
The project represents a significant enhancement to the area's emergency medical services. The current facilities, dating back to the 1980s, have become inadequate in size and functionality. The new, two-story rescue station will provide ample space for six emergency vehicles and improved amenities for personnel.
The construction kick-off ceremony was attended by officials including Dr. Hanna Sammüller, Munich's District Administrative Officer, and Boris Cramer, a member of Johanniter's regional board. Dr. Sammüller highlighted the crucial role of Johanniter's staff and the new station's importance for the city's emergency preparedness.
The new station will be built to current environmental standards, incorporating photovoltaic systems and battery storage for self-sufficient power. It will also feature a biodiverse green roof. The project is expected to be completed within two years, further strengthening Johanniter's capacity to deliver rapid and effective emergency care in southern Munich.
