Johanniter GmbH announces leadership changes effective October 1, 2026

Johanniter GmbH will see changes in its management board starting October 1, 2026. Frank Böker is stepping down as CEO after 14 years. During his tenure, the company's revenue nearly tripled from approximately €600 million to about €1.5 billion, and employee numbers grew from 12,700 to around 20,000.

Matthias Becker, who has been a member of the management board for nearly five years and previously oversaw acute hospitals, will succeed Böker as CEO. Michael Schlickum, responsible for finance and services, will continue in his role. Böker is set to remain with the company for two more years before his retirement.

The company frames these transitions as a signal of continuity and reliability in the challenging health and social services sector. Johanniter GmbH anticipates that the new leadership will maintain the established course and aim to further strengthen its market position.
