Johanniter takes over specialist centers in Düsseldorf

As of October 1, 2026, MVZ Mönchengladbach GmbH, a subsidiary of Johanniter-Krankenhaus Bethesda Mönchengladbach GmbH, has assumed responsibility for two specialist centers at the Medical Center in Düsseldorf. These units, formerly known as the breast cancer center of MVZ am Luisenkrankenhaus and the "GynOnco" center for gynecological oncology, will enhance the Johanniter network's expertise in treating breast cancer and gynecological oncology in the greater Düsseldorf and Niederrhein region.

The specialized care will continue at the established location in Düsseldorf under the new name "MVZ Brustzentrum Niederrhein." The breast cancer center has a history of successful operation since 1997, with its reputation extending beyond Düsseldorf. Most of the previous medical team, including Dr. Oksana Möller, Dr. Maren Darsow, and Dr. Athina Kostara, will remain, joined by another experienced specialist, Dr. Eleni Tsepelidou.

Johanniter aims to integrate the established expertise and patient relationships at the Düsseldorf site with the robust structures and specialized competence of the Johanniter-Krankenhaus Bethesda Mönchengladbach. The Mönchengladbach breast center is one of Germany's largest, diagnosing over 600 new breast cancer cases annually and setting national and international standards in tailored treatment.
