Johanniter's electric medical vehicle proves effective at large events
Johanniter in Mannheim has successfully deployed its new electric medical vehicle for large-scale events. The environmentally friendly and agile vehicle has already proven its worth in critical situations.

Johanniter in Mannheim has successfully integrated a new electric medical vehicle designed for large-scale event support. The vehicle, funded by donations, has already demonstrated its effectiveness at multiple high-profile events, including the Mannheim City Run and the annual Maimarkt fair.
The electric vehicle proved invaluable during the Mannheim City Run, where over 7,500 participants competed in 34°C (93°F) heat. The vehicle was rapidly deployed to assist a runner suffering from heatstroke, navigating narrow sidewalks to allow medical personnel quick access and timely intervention. The vehicle was utilized twice more that day for transporting injured individuals to the event's medical center, all while operating emission-free.
According to paramedic Björn Weber, the electric vehicle significantly enhances mobility at event sites, reduces response times, and frees up conventional ambulances for more critical calls. The vehicle is equipped with a defibrillator and a ventilator, in addition to standard first-aid supplies, enabling immediate response capabilities in emergencies.
Johanniter highlights that the acquisition and operation of this specialized vehicle would not be possible without the support of donors. The electric medical vehicle serves as a crucial enhancement to the organization's capacity to provide medical assistance at large public gatherings, including city festivals and sporting events.
