JPMorgan Executes First Commercial Paper Issuance on Solana Blockchain
JPMorgan conducted the first U.S. commercial paper issuance on the public Solana blockchain in November 2025. The transaction signifies the arrival of tokenized money-market instruments.

JPMorgan Chase executed the first-ever U.S. commercial paper issuance on a public blockchain on November 11, 2025. The bank created an on-chain token for Galaxy Digital Holdings LP on the Solana network. Purchasers included Coinbase and Franklin Templeton.
Proceeds from the issuance and redemption were settled in USDC, a stablecoin. JPMorgan executives described the event as a significant step toward understanding how public blockchains can serve institutional capital markets. The commercial paper market, valued at $100.09 billion in 2024, is undergoing disruption from such infrastructure innovation.
The traditional commercial paper market relies on complex intermediary systems that introduce friction and cost. JPMorgan's on-chain solution offers immediate settlement instead of a T+1 lag, transparent ownership tracking via the blockchain, and access to new investor pools, including crypto-native institutions.
Analysts note this transaction was not merely a proof of concept, but a live commercial deal demonstrating that the infrastructure, legal framework, and institutional appetite now exist for tokenized commercial paper. The market is projected to grow to $188 billion by 2032, and control over the infrastructure for tokenized short-term debt will be strategically significant.
