Juno Bio, a women's health company, has opened its first sequencing lab fully dedicated to women's health in Oakland, California. The CLIA-certified facility marks a significant step in scaling precision testing of the vaginal microbiome and multi-omics research.
The company secured $3.8 million in funding for this growth phase from investors including Ada Ventures, Artesian, Entrepreneur First, and Illumina Accelerator, known for backing early-stage startups in women's health and deep tech.
Juno Bio states its next-generation sequencing platform provides a detailed, clinically actionable view of vaginal health, equipping patients and healthcare providers with deeper insights into conditions often misunderstood or misdiagnosed. According to the company, 67.5% of customers had received an incorrect diagnosis prior to using its test.
The lab opening establishes a new standard for vaginal microbiome health. Juno Bio has built one of the largest repositories of vaginal microbiome data, assisting thousands of women in accessing more precise testing. The new test analyzes approximately 10,000 bacteria and fungi, along with four common STIs.
