Kailera Therapeutics Raises $600 Million in Series B Funding
Kailera Therapeutics announced it has raised $600 million in a Series B financing round. The funds will support the advancement of the company's pipeline of next-generation obesity therapies.
Waltham, Massachusetts and San Diego, California – October 14, 2025 – Biotechnology company Kailera Therapeutics has announced the closure of a $600 million Series B financing round. The funding was led by new investor Bain Capital Private Equity, with participation from both new and existing investors.
The company plans to use the proceeds to advance its portfolio of obesity treatments. Key among these is the injectable GLP-1/GIP dual agonist candidate, KAI-9531. Kailera aims to initiate global Phase 3 clinical trials for KAI-9531 by the end of the year.
Kailera has completed End-of-Phase 2 meetings with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The planned Phase 3 program will involve trials in adults with obesity or overweight with comorbidities, including those with type 2 diabetes.
Additionally, the financing will support the progression of KAI-7535, an oral GLP-1 receptor agonist, into global clinical trials. The company is also advancing earlier-stage programs, including KAI-4729 and an oral tablet formulation of KAI-9531.
