Kalmar, a manufacturer of port and terminal equipment, has launched a new range of electric empty container handlers, the ECG90-110. This new series complements the company's existing portfolio, providing an electric alternative to traditional diesel-powered machinery.

The ECG90-110 range includes various models capable of handling single or double stacked containers. Lifting capacities range from 9 to 11 tonnes, with stacking heights up to 8+1 containers. Customers can select from three different battery options and multiple charging solutions, enabling operation for up to two shifts on a single charge. The system incorporates regenerative braking to return power to the batteries, enhancing overall efficiency.

This electrification strategy is part of Kalmar's broader initiative to offer more environmentally friendly solutions for the logistics industry. According to the company, the new machines are designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs compared to their diesel counterparts. The handlers also feature the new EGO cabin, offering enhanced driver comfort and ergonomics.

Kalmar also emphasizes safety in the new range, which includes shielded high-voltage cabling and automatic system shutdown in case of issues. The company provides the Kalmar Insight system for real-time fleet performance monitoring.

The new electric empty container handlers are part of Kalmar's growing portfolio of eco-efficient solutions, which also includes electric terminal tractors and reach stackers.
