Kalmar Stories: Archaeology, Beaches, and Dinosaur Museum

Kalmar municipality has released a series of local stories, offering insights into the region's diverse offerings, from historical discoveries to local entrepreneurship.

A significant focus is placed on the ongoing research of the warship Kronan, located off the coast of Öland. For over four decades, marine archaeologists, led by Lars Einarsson, have been diving at the wreck, progressively uncovering details about the ship and the lives of those on board.

Alongside historical and cultural narratives, the municipality also presents stories related to nature and activities. Emmelie Brengesjö shares her experiences exploring local beaches accessible by bicycle, while Olivia Idh provides recommendations for kayaking in the area.

The collection also touches upon the local food scene, featuring Lilian Sagerfors, a Swedish champion in sourdough baking, and Johanna Elmqvist, who creates chocolate confections. Additionally, the Tingby manor hosts 'A World of Dinosaurs,' presented as Europe's largest dinosaur museum.
