Kalmar, a global provider of logistics solutions, has been supporting Gruppo Messina's expansion efforts at the Port of Genoa, Italy's busiest port. The company has delivered several new Kalmar DRG450-60S5 reachstackers to the Genoa Intermodal Marine Terminal as part of a broader growth strategy.

Gruppo Messina, as one of the world's leading operators of ro-ro container vessels, has significantly increased its operations in Genoa. The company operates a substantial terminal within the port, handling large volumes of containers and general cargo annually. The new Kalmar equipment has been acquired to enhance the terminal's capacity and efficiency to meet growing volumes and future expansion.

Roberto Ferrari, CEO of the Intermodal Marine Terminal, highlighted the reliability and performance of the Kalmar DRG450-60S5 reachstackers as key factors in the decision. "In response to increasing volumes and our upcoming expansion, which also aims to accommodate larger vessels, we have invested in nine Kalmar DRG450-60S5 reachstackers. The reliability, confirmed by feedback from neighboring terminals and evaluation of performance data, placed Kalmar at the top of our supplier list," Ferrari stated.

This is not the first collaboration between Messina and Kalmar. Over two decades, the companies have partnered on various projects, including the delivery of customized forklift orders in 2011 and 2015. This long-standing relationship underscores Kalmar's capability to provide tailored solutions and support the growth and development of logistics operators.
