Kalmar has secured an order to provide six reachstackers to Boluda Corporación Marítima (Boluda), a Spanish terminal operator. The delivery will enhance operations at Boluda's Muelle del Bufadero terminal in Tenerife. The order includes four Kalmar Gloria reachstackers and two Kalmar Eco reachstackers. Deliveries are planned to occur in phases, with two units expected by the end of 2024 and the remaining four during the second and third quarters of 2025.

The Muelle del Bufadero terminal, which handles both LoLo (lift-on/lift-off) and RoRo (roll-on/roll-off) cargo, currently utilizes Kalmar equipment, including rubber-tyred gantry cranes and terminal tractors. Boluda, with roots dating back to 1837, is a significant maritime services company with operations across Europe and along the coast of Africa.

The Kalmar Eco reachstackers are notable for including a fuel-saving guarantee, which aims to provide greater financial predictability for Boluda. This guarantee is based on agreed-upon metrics for fuel consumption. Additionally, all six new reachstackers will be fitted with 250 mm extended twist locks on their spreaders to facilitate the handling of low-height containers.

Boluda has expressed satisfaction with the quality and reliability of Kalmar equipment, citing a long-standing relationship. The new Eco reachstackers are expected to contribute to Boluda's fleet modernization, enhancing environmental performance and reducing operating expenses.
