Kalshi Demands Netflix Remove Prediction Documentary Trailer

Prediction market Kalshi has demanded that Netflix take down a trailer for an upcoming documentary. In a letter sent Friday, Kalshi claimed the trailer is "defamatory" and contains "both fabricated documents and false and misleading statements."

"Instadocs: The Prediction Games," is a documentary exploring the rise of prediction markets. According to Netflix, the film features interviews with the CEOs of both Polymarket and Kalshi. However, the trailer focuses on a recent party in Las Vegas where individuals who have "made millions of dollars on prediction markets" gathered to watch a World Cup final.

Kalshi is currently banned from operating in Nevada due to a court order. Kalshi argues that an apparent bet shown in the trailer was made before this ban, but Netflix misleadingly implies it took place after the ban in late July. The company asserts this constitutes intentional misrepresentation.

Kalshi also stated it had previously spoken with a Netflix employee who had agreed not to feature the bet receipt in the documentary. The company expressed surprise that Netflix refused to remove the reference to the receipt from the trailer, despite evidence of its inaccuracy being presented.
