Kapsch to Install Traffic Management System at Kuwait University

Kapsch TrafficCom has been contracted to install an integrated traffic management system at Kuwait University’s Sabah Al-Salem campus. The campus, which functions as a self-sustaining urban environment with approximately 13 kilometers of roads and serves around 50,000 daily commuters, will receive a new centralized control platform.

The 20-month project involves deploying Kapsch’s EcoTrafiX platform and 38 controllers. The system will coordinate intersections, parking facilities, and traveler information systems. It will also incorporate sensors, variable message signs, automatic number plate recognition, and staff training.

The solution aims to enhance traffic coordination and improve responses to congestion and operational disruptions within the campus. Specific focus will be placed on managing traffic at main entrances during peak periods and improving circulation between different campus zones.

Kuwait-based systems integrator Zamco Integrated Solutions was awarded the project. Kapsch states that the new system is designed to increase traffic safety, reduce congestion, and support more predictable journeys for the campus community.
