Karl Landsteiner University seeks physiology researcher

Karl Landsteiner University (KL) is seeking a new researcher for its Department of Physiology in Krems. The position is for a postdoctoral or senior postdoctoral researcher, working full-time, 40 hours per week.

The successful candidate will join a research group focused on synaptic function and calcium channel signaling in both health and disease. The research program utilizes neuronal cell culture models, fluorescence microscopy, electrophysiology, and molecular approaches to investigate fundamental questions in synaptic physiology and pathophysiology.

Responsibilities include conducting and contributing to research projects, teaching physiology to medical students in English, and participating in administrative duties. The role also involves acquiring, executing, and leading externally funded research projects, as well as supervising bachelor's, master's, and PhD students.

The university emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration within its established teaching and research environment. Applicants should possess a PhD, demonstrable expertise in neuronal cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, and electrophysiology, supported by scientific publications. International research experience and a strong enthusiasm for scientific inquiry are also expected. The position is initially limited to four years, with the potential for permanent employment.
