Karnov Group Survey: 7 in 10 Lawyers See Pressure on Rule of Law
A new survey by Karnov Group reveals that seven out of ten lawyers perceive increased pressure on the rule of law. Concerns are also raised about the impact of AI on the younger generation of legal professionals.

A significant majority of European lawyers are concerned about the state of the rule of law, according to Karnov Group's new report, "Inside the Legal Mind – The European Legal Profession Survey 2026".
The survey, which included 3,129 legal professionals from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, France, and Spain, indicates that 70 percent of respondents feel growing pressure on the adherence to the rule of law. Concerns also extend to how artificial intelligence (AI) might affect trust in the legal system and the professional development of junior lawyers.
The findings highlight that the advancement of AI is prompting particular questions regarding future legal expertise. Lawyers are contemplating the influence of new technologies on legal scholarship and the quality of legal services moving forward.
